NFU Cymru Welsh Farming Week Reel Competition winner announced

The winner of the Welsh Farming Week 2026 Reel Competition has been announced following a strong response from the farming community across Wales.

The competition challenged entrants to showcase what sustainable food production looks like on their farm through a short social media reel, highlighting the important role farmers play in producing food while caring for the environment. 

The winning entry, submitted by Chloe Smith from Glamorgan, impressed judges with its well-executed creativity, storytelling, quality of footage and encapsulated what sustainable food production looks like on a Welsh farm.  

What the judges said

“An excellent initiative to encourage participation in Welsh Farming Week and provide a platform for individuals to showcase their content.”

Robbie Alman-Wilson, NFU Cymru/NFU Mutual Wales Woman Farmer of the Year 2025. 

The competition was judged by NFU Cymru President Abi Reader and Wales Woman Farmer of the Year Robbie Alman-Wilson.

NFU Cymru President, Abi Reader said: “The passion for farming across all the entries was incredible to see, and the care for the land we all love really shone through. Every submission was inspiring, but Chloe’s stood out as a truly brilliant story, executed exceptionally well.”

Robbie Alman-Wilson said: “I very much enjoyed judging the reel competition, which was an excellent initiative to encourage participation in Welsh Farming Week and provide a platform for individuals to showcase their content. The winning entry stood out in particular, demonstrating a high level of skill in both the imagery and execution, with a seamless and well-structured flow throughout.”

As winner of the competition Chloe Smith received a Outback Outfitters smock and a £200 voucher.

The competition formed part of Welsh Farming Week 2026 and aimed to celebrate the diverse ways farmers across Wales are delivering sustainable food production which was the overall theme of the week.

NFU Cymru Digital Communications Adviser Sarah Phillips said: “We were delighted with the quality of entries received. The competition provided a fantastic opportunity for farmers to share their stories and showcase the work taking place on farms across Wales to produce food sustainably.

“The entries highlighted the innovation, commitment and pride that exists throughout the industry and demonstrated the important role farming plays in caring for our environment while producing high quality food.”
The winning reel will be showcased tomorrow [Tuesday 30 June] at the Sustainable Farming Conference and at the NFU Cymru/NFU Mutual stand during the Royal Welsh Show.

The runners up were:

Second place – Katie Rose Davies.
Third place – Bryony Gittins.
Joint fourth place – Rowena Jones and Elin Protheroe.
