Join NFU Cymru on farm for the sixth Sustainable Farming Conference

15 June 2026
NFU Cymru Sustainable Farming Conference 2026

An exciting line-up of speakers will take to the stage of NFU Cymru’s Sustainable Farming Conference, sponsored by Wynnstay Group PLC, on Tuesday 30th June during Welsh Farming Week

The event, which will be held at Pant Farm, Llanvetherine, Abergavenny NP7 8RH by kind permission of the Yeomans family, is set to showcase farmers’ work feeding the nation, enhancing the farmed environment and contributing to the vitality of their local communities.

Attendees will hear insights from industry experts, receive lunch and undertake a tour of the 160-hectare mixed farm. Attendance at this year’s conference will also count towards one hour of the Sustainable Farming Scheme CPD training for Universal Action 4.

Keynote speakers

NFU Cymru is delighted to welcome keynote speakers Cabinet Minister for Rural Resilience and Sustainability, Llyr Gruffydd MS, and Ian Marshall OBE, from Queen’s University Belfast.

A former President of the Ulster Farmers’ Union, Ian Marshall is Head of Business Development and Policy at the Centre for Advanced Sustainable Energy, where he facilitates strategic connections between research, industry, and government on renewable energy, decarbonisation, and the green circular bioeconomy.

All female farmer panel

The on-farm conference will also feature an all-female farmer’s panel sharing insights into their businesses and sustainable farming practices.

The session, chaired by NFU Cymru LFA Board Chair Kath Whitrow, will include contributions from Katie-Rose Davies, beef and sheep farmer and NFU Cymru Glamorgan County Chair; Claire Jones, a Ceredigion dairy farmer and NFU Cymru Dairy Board member; Lyn Anthony, an arable and sheep farmer in Glamorgan; and Elliw Griffith, an NFU Cymru Next Generation Development Group member from Anglesey.

NFU Cymru President Abi Reader said: “We are delighted that the Cabinet Minister Llyr Gruffydd MS and Ian Marshall OBE will be joining us to address our forthcoming Sustainable Farming Conference. These key-note speakers, together with our farmer panel, post-lunch farm tour and SFS CPD points on offer, also, mean this promises to be an insightful event not to be missed.

NFU Cymru/Wynnstay Group PLC Sustainable Agriculture Award

“During the conference we will also be awarding the NFU Cymru/Wynnstay Group PLC Sustainable Agriculture Award in recognition of the farming businesses that epitomises the unparalleled contribution Welsh farming enterprises make to the economic, environmental, social and cultural well-being of Wales.

“We are grateful to our partners Wynnstay Group PLC for their continued sponsorship of the NFU Cymru Sustainable Farming Conference and we would also like to thank Kepak for sponsoring the beef we’ll be served for lunch at this year’s event.”
