The Four Rivers for LIFE project, backed by the Welsh Government and NRW, has set up drop off points in south-West Wales, where farmers can recycle their agri-plastics including silage wrap, feed bags, twine and buckets.
Working with Agricultural Plastics Environment UK (APE) and Birch Farm Plastics, the project is helping farmers cut costs while cleaning up rivers.
This initiative has already supported farmers in recycling over 140T of agri-plastic in the area.
How it works:
- Check eligibility – Call Birch Farm Plastics on 01792 869 776 to confirm you’re in the scheme area.
- Book a slot – Choose one of the designated Drop-off Centres.
- Save money – Thanks to project funding, you’ll pay less than standard recycling fees.
- Bring sorted plastics – Silage wrap / film, feed/fertiliser bags, buckets, netting and twine. Keep them separated.
- Get a Waste Transfer Note – For compliance and record-keeping.
All farmers are encouraged to recycle their used plastics. The financial incentive applies only to those within the scheme’s boundaries OR who take their plastics to one of the seven Drop-Off centres below.
