Monmouthshire NFU Cymru members bowled over by Scott Quinnell

25 September 2019

The evening, which was arranged by Monmouthshire County Chair, Kate Beavan and kindly hosted by the Beavan family at Great Tre-Rhew Farm, Llanvetherine near Abergavenny, was a social evening looking to highlight mental health awareness.

Monmouthshire NFU Cymru held a successful social evening with a guest appearance by Scott Quinnell, former Wales and British and Irish Lions Rugby legend, who spoke passionately about mental health awareness.

Kate Beavan, Monmouthshire County Chair said: ‘There is such political turbulence at the moment and it is extremely hard to know which way to turn in times of need. Scott gave an excellent presentation that just involved asking someone four words, ‘Can I help you?’ In the farming community we really do look out for each other and the evening showed the strength in rural communities. We can all see when someone is in need of physical help – but mental health is far more hidden. We are all here for each other and help is available.”

The evening involved a skittles match and some Great Tre-Rhew home produced cider with the Beavan family burgers and hotdogs. £200 was also raised for R.A.B.I during the evening.
