Bovine TB changes in intermediate TB Area North - what you need to know

Cattle in field_78472

The Welsh Government is writing to cattle keepers in the Conwy Valley and Denbighshire areas to confirm that a second set of changes to bovine TB controls will come into effect from 1 November, and to briefly outline what this next stage entails.

However, we would like to highlight for the purposes of anyone wishing to move cattle from that date that a temporary reclassification of the 3 spatial units (CL1, CL2 and GW1), as part of the Intermediate TB Area North (ITBAN) will have been implemented.

An important consequence of this will be a requirement for a clear tuberculin skin test no more than 60 days before such a move can take place, unless the animal or movement is exempt from Pre-Movement Testing. (Post Movement Testing (PoMT) will no longer be required in these areas for any movement into a herd on or after 1 November).

Welsh Government advise keepers to contact their private vet to discuss further if they propose to move cattle on or after the 1 November.
