NFU Cymru has once again shown its support to Brecknock YFC through the sponsorship of its pinnacle event, the county rally, held last Saturday, 1st June.
The annual event was hosted this year by Pontfaen YFC at the home of NFU Cymru President, John Davies, at Pentre Farm, Merthyr Cynog. Hundreds of youngsters came out to compete against each other in a range of competitions from tug-of-war, baking, arts and crafts to stock-judging.
On presenting the £200 cheque to Peter Hope, County President, Robert Lewis, NFU Cymru Brecon and Radnor County Chairman said: “The activities of the YFC are essential to rural life and the farming industry in Wales, as well as showing community spirit. NFU Cymru is delighted to be able to sponsor this prestigious event and the union has always been proactive in showing its support for young farmers in Wales, and long may it continue.”
Gwen Samuel, Events Manager, Brecknock YFC said: “Our partnership with NFU Cymru is invaluable in allowing our members the opportunity to participate in competitions that contribute to their ongoing personal development. The sponsorship has meant that many young farmers have been able to take part in Brecknock YFC’s pinnacle agricultural event, so on behalf of our members I would like to thank NFU Cymru for their generous donation.”
