Sophie Davies has been appointed as the new Group Secretary at the NFU Cymru/NFU Mutual Hay-on-Wye office.
Originally from Glamorgan, where she grew up on a dairy turned beef, sheep and arable farm, Sophie has lived within Brecon and Radnor for the past four years. She has a degree in Politics and Law from Aberystwyth University and has been involved with the YFC movement for many years.
Speaking about her appointment, Sophie said: “I am thrilled to be joining the already strong team at Hay-on-Wye and to work in partnership with the existing agent, Ellie Williams. I am looking forward to continuing to build on the excellent service already provided to members and clients. Once Covid-19 restrictions allow, I am looking forward to meeting the membership and understanding their business needs.
“Despite the ongoing restrictions members can still expect high levels of customers service from myself and the team. Whilst I am currently working on my insurance licenses, I am able to immediately provide members with professional farming advice, guidance and support to their businesses all while championing the Welsh and British farming industry, so please do not hesitate to contact me.

NFU Cymru Director, John Mercer added: “Having worked closely with Sophie for the last few years I know she has a wealth of knowledge and understands the current issues facing farmers.
