NFU Cymru appoints new Group Secretary in Carmarthen & St Clears

NFU Cymru has recently appointed Sara George as its new Group Secretary covering Carmarthen and St Clears. Sara joins the already strong team in the area of Paul McCarthy and Rhodri Thomas.

Sara grew up in Llanfynydd on her family farm where she continues to enjoy farming alongside her parents. She now lives with her husband, Meirion in Llanfynydd. They run a flock of speckled sheep. During the summer months, Sara competes as part of Llanfynydd tug of war club and is a member of Llanfynydd YFC, where she has taken part in a range of competitions including public speaking and stockjudging.

About Sara

Sara has been working in the St Clears NFU Cymru / NFU Mutual agency for the past 11 years where she started as a Customer Service Adviser before becoming Agency Manager.

Speaking about her appointment, Sara said: “Having worked within the NFU Cymru / NFU Mutual office for a number of years I have had the opportunity to get to know customers, products and services inside out. Now that I have been appointed NFU Cymru / NFU Mutual Group Secretary I look forward to further developing these relationships by assisting members in a rang of union matters as well as their insurance needs. I aim to use my local connections to engage with the next generation of young farmers and to work with them to secure a sustainable future for Welsh agriculture.”

NFU Cymru Director John Mercer said: “I would like to give a warm welcome to Sara on behalf of the whole NFU Cymru team. Sara is joining a very strong team made up of Paul and Rhodri and I am sure under their guidance, she will hit the ground running and continue to be a fantastic support for members Carmarthen and St Clears.”
