Dr Peter Noy

Director, Food Systems Institute, University of Nottingham

Pete provides direction and leadership for the Food Systems Institute, a research institute focused on building partnerships and working with stakeholders to drive better food futures. The focus of the Institute is to develop research knowledge and innovation that can initiate change across food system stakeholders to make the food we eat more sustainable, equitable and nutritious.

Pete has held leadership roles in the University of Nottingham’s flagship AgriFood initiatives since 2018, first the Future Food Beacon (2018-2023) and then the Food Systems Institute (2023-present). These initiatives have driven both fundamental and practical research knowledge in agricultural productivity, from on-farm technology adoption to soil management to the development of resilient crop and livestock systems to the advancement of future agricultural technologies.

His current role oversees four interdisciplinary research centres that integrate more than 250 academic staff across more than 20 disciplinary schools at the University of Nottingham.
