NFU Cymru members are being encouraged to apply for positions on the NFU Legal Board, helping guide the Legal Assistance Scheme and support members across Wales.

The NFU Legal Board is inviting applications from NFU Cymru members who can bring strong knowledge and practical insight to support the governance of the NFU Legal Assistance Scheme (LAS).

The scheme is a long standing, discretionary member benefit that provides legal support in both individual cases and wider national issues affecting farming.

Its success relies on a board that can make fair, well informed decisions on funding applications and help shape the long term direction of the scheme.

To ensure the LAS continues to deliver for members, we are seeking individuals who are scheme members, demonstrate a strong moral compass, and have a solid grounding in practical agriculture. Board members play a key role in assessing a wide range of matters and contributing to the strategic development of the scheme.

Experience or knowledge in the following areas would be particularly valuable:

  • Finance — including management of invested capital, audit, financial strategy and due diligence
  • Governance
  • Legal process
  • Land matters — such as tenure, environmental issues, soil and water, disputes and valuation

The Legal Board is committed to fostering a positive and inclusive culture that reflects NFU values: we are inclusive, resourceful, professional and united.

We welcome applications for national appointee roles from members who can bring expertise in any of the areas above, demonstrate an ability to communicate with clarity and professionalism and who want to contribute to an important and rewarding part of the NFU’s work.

How to apply

Download an application form for the regional role. It should be returned to NFU Cymru Head of Operations Iestyn Pritchard by Monday 4 May.
