Do you understand supermarket labels?

Produce labelling may seem quite far removed from what goes on on-farm, but the label is the main information that the consumer will receive on a product. In a post-Brexit world we will have the opportunity to shape labelling legislation and it is important that any labelling legislation is meaningful to consumers. For example, does origin information ‘from EU’ really mean anything shoppers?

To get a better understanding of labelling, below is a diagram of all the information currently provided on a label. Certain information is mandatory and some is supplied voluntarily.
