Call for Evidence - NRW's approach to regulating the shooting and trapping of wild birds in Wales

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is undertaking a review of how they regulate the shooting and trapping of wild birds and the destruction of their eggs and nests.  The review will include consideration of NRW’s approach to wild bird control licensing (general and specific licences) and NRW’s approach to the regulation of the use of cage traps for the control of wild birds.

As part of their review, NRW are currently undertaking a call for evidence.   NRW is interested in both scientific and anecdotal evidence which will help assess how its current approaches are working, and evidence which can help improve the way it carries out this role.  This call for evidence is not a consultation, NRW are not currently proposing any changes to the way in which they licence or provide advice on the shooting and trapping of birds or the destruction of eggs and nests.  A full consultation on any proposals will be published at a later date.

The call for evidence will close on 27 January 2021.   NFU Cymru will be submitting a response and would be pleased to receive any relevant evidence that could be included in our response. Email bmZ1LmN5bXJ1QG5mdS5vcmcudWs=
