If you feel passionate about the potato industry and want to provide a strong voice for UK growers, now is your chance to join the NFU’s dedicated forum for potato growers.
The NFU is seeking new members of the NFU Potato Forum to support the development and delivery of its policy objectives. At such a critical time for the sector, there has never been a better time to get involved and have your say on how the NFU supports potato growers.
With up to six positions to be filled, we're seeking applications from members across all parts of England and Wales and covering a range of different markets (processing, chipping, fresh, seed etc.).
How to apply
Please complete the Expression of Interest form and email it to NFU Horticulture Adviser, Rupert Weaver no later than 5pm on Thursday 13 May.
The role of the NFU Potato Forum
The NFU Potato Forum works alongside the NFU's national board for horticulture and potatoes and has a critical role in shaping NFU policies that impact on potato growers.
Whether it is crop protection or Brexit changes, or tackling the impacts of COVID-19, the NFU Potato Forum helps identify the issues affecting members and creates a plan of action to address them.
The Forum also has the opportunity to input into national policy through the board for horticulture and potatoes, with both the chairman and vice chairman of the forum currently sitting on the national board.
The group meets every six months and has regular email/video call contact throughout the year, addressing key policy priority areas and reacting to sector issues rapidly.
The first meeting of 2021 will be held virtually on 25 May, with the second at a date to be confirmed in November.
If you'd like to know more about the role, please contact NFU horticulture and potatoes adviser, Rupert Weaver, on 07973 237885 or by email.
