As of January 2008, anyone transporting livestock or poultry in connection with economic activity and over 65km will need to hold a Certificate of Competence to conform to GB rules on animal welfare.
- This allows transportation of animals on domestic journeys under eight hours within the UK
- The price includes the workshop, test, notification of your results and the Certificate of Competence
- Passing the test will ensure you comply with GB rules on animal welfare

Course information
There are 6 categories within the course:
- Cattle
- Sheep
- Goats
- Pigs
- Horses
- Birds
There is a training/information session to start with then you will take a generic multiple choice test and a multiple choice paper for each species. The charge for this is £42 + VAT regardless of the number of species you take. However, birds are a separate unit and subject to an additional £42 + VAT charge.
