NFU Cymru members can take the Welfare of Animals in Transport certificate of competence test for just £42 + VAT.

As of January 2008, anyone transporting livestock or poultry in connection with economic activity and over 65km will need to hold a Certificate of Competence to conform to GB rules on animal welfare.

  • This allows transportation of animals on domestic journeys under eight hours within the UK
  • The price includes the workshop, test, notification of your results and the Certificate of Competence
  • Passing the test will ensure you comply with GB rules on animal welfare

What does it cost?

  • NFU Farmer & Grower Members £42 plus VAT
  • Student & YFC Members £42 plus VAT

Course information

There are 6 categories within the course:

  • Cattle
  • Sheep
  • Goats
  • Pigs
  • Horses
  • Birds

There is a training/information session to start with then you will take a generic multiple choice test and a multiple choice paper for each species. The charge for this is £42 + VAT regardless of the number of species you take.  However, birds are a separate unit and subject to an additional £42 + VAT charge.
