She Who Dares...Farms' returns

08 March 2020

NFU Cymru County Adviser for Monmouthshire, Brecon and Radnor, Stella Owen said: “We are delighted to announce that ‘She Who Dares…Farms’ will return this year. There was such an outstanding response last year that we simply could not resist the opportunity to stage the event again. The title of our conference – ‘She Who Dares…Farms’ - encapsulates women in farming perfectly.

Tracey Roan of BBC 2 hit series This Farming Life, Caroline Mason, Head of Agriculture Co-op and Abi Kay, Chief Reporter Farmers Guardian will all be keynote speakers at this year’s NFU Cymru ‘She Who Dares…Farms’ conference.

“We’re once again launching the conference on International Women’s Day, as a celebration of the success of ‘She Who Dares…Farms’ which recognises our farming women’s achievements.”

The event will be held at the Members Centre, Royal Welsh Showground on Thursday 2nd July 2020.

Stella Owen added: “The aim of the conference is to bring women involved with farming businesses together to share knowledge, ideas and most of all to raise the profile of women who can become more involved with the union and the industry as a whole. We achieved so much last year, and I am delighted the concept was seen throughout Wales and the rest of the UK, with worldwide merchandise purchases continuing to this day.

“We are delighted to have Tracey Roan join us, following her family’s appearance on our TV’s during their time on Series 2 of BBC2’s This Farming Life. It is high time positive media coverage and positive news stories featured in our lives again. Caroline Mason, Head of Agriculture at the Co-op, has an impressive farming heritage anchored in her family’s rural Shropshire roots, and today, aged just 37, oversees the community retailer’s agricultural strategy. Abi Kay also never shies away from a good farming story and taking farmers views forward, featuring on BBC Breakfast and giving a true grit of farming. All in all, we are in for a fantastic day. We are also grateful to Barclays bank who have agreed to sponsor this year’s event.”

The full conference line-up will be announced in the coming weeks and months. To register your attendance please contact the NFU Cymru office on 01982 554200 or email bmZ1LmN5bXJ1QG5mdS5vcmcudWs=
