'The Garden of Wales',The National Botanical Garden of Wales among others take advantage of the excellent growing conditions in the county.

Milk production predominates the Towy and Taf Valleys. The principal town, Carmarthen, grew up around the local livestock market, recently relocated to the outskirts of the town and now the market is one of the most modern in Europe.

The upper reaches of the county provide quality sheep and cattle for buyers far and wide, sold in the market towns of Llandovery and Llanybydder.
