Who Are We?

 NFU Cymru employs 17 members of staff; 13 based in Builth Wells, and 4 based in North Wales .  In addition, there are 47 Group Offices, employing 57 Group Secretaries and approximately 200 support staff.

Heads up NFU Cymru’s policy work and assists the director in the management of NFU Cymru and its resources

Advisers

Responsible for providing legal advice to members via NFU Cymru appointed legal firms.  Also responsible for administering the NFU’s Legal Assistance Scheme.   Responsible for providing legal advice to members via NFU Cymru appointed legal firms.  Also responsible for administering the NFU’s Legal Assistance Scheme. Assembly Adviser  Huw Thomas
Responsible as a first point of contact for relations between NFU Cymru and elected members of the National Assembly for .  Inevitably much of the work includes detailed lobbying and briefing on individual policies.  The work also compliments the Parliamentary lobbying activity of NFU Cymru in providing additional briefs to Welsh MPs and MEPs

Policy Advisers

Kevin Owen - Responsible for Clwyd, Montgomery

Dafydd Jarrett - Responsible for Merionethshire, Mid Gwynedd & Anglesey

Peter Howell - Responsible for Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire

Stella Owen - Responsible for Brecon & Radnor, Monmouthshire & Glamorgan

Their work includes liaison with a wide range of local organisations, they co-ordinate county meetings and progress a variety of specific issues, and generally develop the policy interests of NFU Cymru in their respective areas.

Business Development Managers

Both managers are responsible for supervising the work of the Group Secretaries.  Their basic tasks are to assist and motivate Group Secretaries to maximise subscription income and recruitment.

Responsible for the administration of NFU Cymru.  

Press and Public Relations

Public Relations Officer  Sarah Jones

Advises on NFU Cymru's profile; promotes the interests of NFU Cymru and the industry to the media at all levels – television, radio and newspapers.  Also assists in the training of Group Secretaries and members in dealing with the media.  The Public Relations Officer is the Editor of NFU Cymru’s monthly publication, Farming Wales.

Assistant Public Relations Officer Awel Morris

Responds to the press, writes and issues English and Welsh press releases and articles promoting the interests of NFU Cymru. Prepares articles for Farming Wales. With particular responsibility for  North Wales , website and translation.

 NFU Cymru has permanent respresentation, together with the NFUs of England, and , at a dedicated agriculture and rural policy office in Brussels , commonly called the BAB Office. This office is crucial in allowing NFU Cymru to be directly involved in the development of policy on a day to day basis both at the European Commission and at the European Parliament.
