08 - May - 2008ONE WEEK UNTIL SFP APPLICATION DEADLINE

NFU Cymru is reminding members that only one week remains until the deadline for the submission of the Single Application Forms (SAFs).  These ensure access to farm support under the Single Farm Payment (SFP) the Tir Mynydd, Organic and Welsh Agri-environment Schemes and must be completed by 15 May 2008.

To get full value of payments the absolute deadline for local divisional Assembly offices to receive Single Application Forms is 15 May 2008.  After that date penalties of one percent per working day will apply.  After 9 June applications will be rejected and non-completion could lead to total loss of support payments.

Farmers should take particular care when completing the SAF. They need to pay attention to the accuracy of pre-printed details, the provision of livestock data, common land details, changes to crop codes and checking that the full area of each field is accounted for.

Dai Davies, President NFU Cymru said, “With only a week to go until the deadline farmers should ensure that the completion of the forms is top priority.  Single Farm, LFA, organic and Agri Environment support payments cannot be secured without submitting a Single Application Form so this is one of the most crucial forms farmers will complete.

“So as to avoid mistakes, if members are in any doubt then they should seek guidance from their local NFU Cymru group office or from their local Assembly office.”
