Carys Roberts, from Ruthin and Kate McIntyre from Wrexham, who both work as Group Secretaries for NFU Cymru are among 54,000 runners who will be running in the Newcastle Great North Run, on Sunday, 19 September 2010.
Both Carys and Kate will be running the iconic half-marathon, from Newcastle to Gateshead, in aid of Make-A-Wish, a charity which aims to grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.
Carys Roberts, who recently completed a gruelling 200 mile charity bike ride from Abergele to Cardiff said, “I have never taken part in a running event before, indeed I have never run 13 miles before so training has been non-stop since the cycling challenge. My goal is just to take part, complete it and encourage as many of us as possible to dig deep in our pockets to give money to this worthy charity.”
Kate McIntyre added, “Make-A-Wish is a superb charity. The wishes they grant are truly magical and provide memories that last a lifetime. With just over a week to go, Carys and I are still a few hundred pounds short of our sponsorship target – so please sponsor us at:
www.justgiving.com/carysandkatesbignewcastleadventure. Donations can also be given at either Ruthin or Wrexham NFU Cymru offices.”
