Who's who

NFU Cymru Leaders Ed-bailey

Edmund Bailey - President

Ed is the third generation to work the family farm. Mostly severely disadvantaged, the land rises to 2,500 feet. Neolithic remains prove the land has been farmed continuously for over four thousand years. The stocking rate of Welsh Mountain sheep and predominately Welsh Black cattle have remained similar to that in 1950 when the family arrived from Lancashire.

Stephen James

Stephen James - Deputy President

Stephen James farms in partnership with his wife, Joyce and their son, Daniel, they have a 500 acre farm with 270 dairy cows. Stephen is former Pembrokeshire County NFU Cymru Chairman. He is also President of the Pembrokeshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs, a Board Director of the Clynderwen & Cardiganshire Farmers, and a show commentator at the Pembrokeshire county show.

In July 2002 she was awarded a prestigious fellowship from the Royal Agricultural Societies in recognition of further contribution to the agricultural industry, an advancement to the associateship she received in 1996.

NFU Cymru Organisation Structure

Local Branch Committees within each County discuss issues and decisions which are then passed on to a full Committee at each of the 11 County levels. NFU Cymru feel that the views of grass roots members is paramount to the success of our policies and decision making.

Welsh Boards decide and agree policies which are then put to politicians and officials when making decisions on agricultural issues in the Welsh Assembly. There are four main Welsh Boards; Welsh Livestock, Welsh Less Favoured Area (LFA), Welsh Milk and Dairy Produce and the Rural Affairs Board. Day to day activities rest with the Welsh Management Board.
